OUR BLS Training COURSE MODULES

At Sacramento CPR Classes, our BLS blended learning course offers comprehensive training in essential life-saving techniques to first responders, including firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and laypeople. Beyond just the BLS course, we also emphasize developing leadership and communication skills in our students to empower them to approach any situation with confidence and composure. Here’s what you’ll learn in detail:

CPR Techniques and First Aid

Our BSL course in Sacramento covers the latest CPR techniques, including chest compressions, rescue breaths, and ventilation devices, while also integrating essential first aid classes. You’ll also learn how to assess the victim’s condition, perform Cardiopulmonary resuscitation effectively, and provide basic first aid for various medical emergencies. Additionally, we provide training in both multiple rescuer CPR, where teamwork is essential, and single rescuer CPR, for situations where immediate assistance may be limited.

Use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)

We provide hands-on training in the proper use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). AEDs are portable devices that deliver an electric shock to restore normal heart rhythm in individuals experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. You’ll learn how to operate an AED safely and efficiently to maximize the chances of survival for cardiac arrest victims.

Airway Management

Proper airway management is crucial for delivering oxygen to vital organs, especially during cardiac arrest or respiratory distress. In our BLS course, you’ll learn essential techniques like the Head-Tilt-Chin-Lift and Jaw-Thrust methods. These skills will help you ensure adequate oxygenation and ventilation in emergencies. Plus, we’ll cover the BLS algorithm to guide you in responding effectively when every second counts.

Recognition of Life-Threatening Emergencies

Early recognition of life-threatening emergencies is critical for timely intervention and improved outcomes. Our course focuses on the importance of recognizing signs and symptoms of common medical emergencies, such as heart attack, stroke, and respiratory distress. You’ll learn how to assess the victim’s condition, prioritize interventions, and activate emergency medical services (EMS) when needed.

BLS Certification and Renewal in Sacramento

You can acquire your AHA BLS Certification in just two phases.

In the first phase, students will engage in a self-paced series of online training modules, which last from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on individual experience levels.

The second phase involves skills practice and testing at our Citrus Heights and Arden facilities, both conveniently located near Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights, just a short drive from Sacramento, Folsom, Elk Grove, and Rancho Cordova. This hands-on session lasts between 20 minutes to 1 hour. You practice essential life-saving skills using a voice-assisted manikin (VAM). While instructors are not physically present during the session, they will be accessible for assistance. The manikin guides you through the process, and after successfully completing both phases, you will receive your BLS certification card the same day.

BLS Certifications are valid for only two years. To avoid any lapse, you have to enroll in recertification classes before your certification expires. Sacramento CPR Classes also offers AHA BLS renewal courses for both healthcare providers and laypersons. If you enroll before your expiration date, you will only need to complete a quick skills test, which takes between 20 minutes to 1 hour, to receive your BLS certification card. However, if your certification has expired, you must complete both the online training and the skills test to regain BLS certification. The same process applies if you hold ACLS certification or PALS certification. Whether you’re looking for BLS certification near you or need BLS renewal, we’re here to provide top-quality, flexible training.

FAQs About BLS Training in Sacramento

How long does BLS certification last?

BLS certifications issued by the AHA are valid for a period of two years. You must complete a brief renewal / retaining course before the expiration date. So register now for the BLS certification in Sacramento. You can find a Sacramento CPR class in your local area, including Citrus Heights, Arden, or surrounding locations.

Can I renew my certification if it has expired?

Of course, you can renew your certification. But you have to renew it before your certification expiry date as AHA no longer offer a grace period. So, BLS renewal should be done every 2 years, or else you will have to retake the whole course again.

Is BLS certification different from CPR certification?

Yes, it is. BLS Certification is a more advanced certification than CPR certification. In CPR certification, you will be trained to perform CPR and first aid, while in BLS certification, you will learn about CPR and first aid, AED usage, airway management, and recognizing life-threatening emergencies.

Do I need prior medical training to enroll in a BLS course?

No, it is not a necessity to be involved in prior medical training to enroll in a BLS Course. The AHA has specially designed the BLS course for healthcare providers. However, if you are not involved in the medical profession, taking prior CPR Classes is helpful.

Is there a certification provided upon completion of the course?

When you complete the AHA course requirement and give the BLS exam, you will receive BLS certification right after completing the BLS course. If you want to learn life-saving skills, then enroll in BLS Sacramento classes.
